In an unexpected twist for film enthusiasts in Karnataka, all screenings of the much-anticipated movie "Pushpa 2" that were scheduled to occur from midnight to 6:30 am on December 5 have been withdrawn. This decision was made in strict adherence to a directive from the Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, aiming to clamp down on the screening of films before the legally allowed time. This move strictly enforces the Karnataka Cinema Regulations Act of 2014, ensuring that no cinemas operate beyond the stipulated hours.
The directive from the authorities has led to the cancellation of over 100 early morning shows of "Pushpa 2: The Rule" across the state, affecting numerous single-screen theaters and multiplexes that had planned these showings. Some of these venues included notable names like Amruth Chitramandira in Lingarajapuram. This enforcement act by the Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner follows a wave of concern over unauthorised screenings, some of which were reported to begin as early as 3:30 and 4 am, thus deviating from the traditional cinema screening times in Karnataka which usually start at 10 am, with special releases sometimes commencing at 7 am.
